Tracks off new EP "Groping around for the light switch"

"Quietly hypnotic stuff, with intriguing harmonic leaps and textures and noir, existential lyrics."

-Paul de Barros (The Seattle Times, Downbeat Magazine, and Earshot Jazz)

"I listened to your album and was absolutely stunned by your work. So great on so many levels. Writing, singing, playing, arrangements, lyrics."

-Timothy Young (Guitarist on The Late Late Show with James Corden; has collaborated with musicians such as Wayne Horvitz and Bill Frisell)

Bio

Rumi is a singer-songwriter, producer, and event organizer from Sacramento, CA. He sings and plays keys, acoustic guitar, and bass, and sometimes when nervous, whistles, or doesn't make any noise at all.

Rumi records and produces his music in his room, and over the last few years has released an Album and an EP. (Audiofolds - 2022, Groping around for the light switch - 2025)

A few big inspirations for Rumi are Elliot Smith, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, and Talk Talk. Rumi makes music that he thinks sounds nice, and wishes more people would do that.

Alongside making, playing, and hearing music, one of his greatest passions is building connections and community through music. Rumi is the owner of Missing Musician - a concert and event company that he dedicates to cultivating a lush culture of mutual support between low profile musicians, small businesses, and creative people by combining their respective powers and putting on big, hip events. (Whew, long sentence there)

All that aside, Rumi and his band will be on tour in July of this summer in the Pacific Northwest, and they hope you will pop in and say hi if you're around.
